Centrifugal Separator adalah salah satu jenis alat pemisahan antara solid - liquid atau liquid - liquid (berbeda jauh berat jenisnya) sering kita temui di industri yang dalam prosesnya ada tahap pengkristalan karena ada tahap pre - treatment yaitu pemisahan materi yang berbeda berat jenisnya yang dianggap sebagai impurities.
Prinsip yang digunakan dalam pemisahan ini adalah gaya sentrifugal (gaya yang ditimbulkan oleh perputaran yang menyebabkan arah menjauhi pusat / poros).

Cara kerjanya adalah :
Feed masuk melewati pipa nomor (1), karena terkena pengaruh gaya sentrifugal maka liquid yang berat jenisnya lebih berat (heavier density) akan terkumpul di bawah, kemudian sealing nomor (7) digeser sehingga heavier density mengalir ke room nomor (5) dan dikeluarkan ke hole nomor (3), kemudian liquid dengan berat jenis lebih ringan (lighter density) akan mengalir melewati sirip - sirip distribusi dan keluar melewati pipa atas.
